Plump blackberries in peak season are my absolute favorite! I could eat them by the bucketful! But the combo of lemon, blackberries and yogurt wonderfully round out this tasty and healthy smoothie.
Blackberries are filled with antioxidants and fiber; the lemon zest and juice gives an extra boost of vitamin C and limonene; yogurt adds probiotics for good gut health and healthy fats to keep you full; and broccoli sprouts pack an incredible punch from a compound called sulforaphane, which is know to support detoxification, and has anti-inflammatory benefits that can strengthen brain health, the heart, and digestion.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup blackberries (fresh in season, frozen when not)
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup broccoli sprouts
- 8 oz plain, full fat yogurt (cow, sheep or diary free will work)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 serving vanilla protein powder
- 1 – 2 cups almond milk (or other nut milk)
Directions
- Add all ingredients to a high speed blender. Blend on high until smooth and creamy.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately
